The idea is about the solar eclipse when the sun covers the moon as the strong visual that we could see by our own eyes the relationship between the sun and the moon. But the timing is set a bit further in the future, when the earth is full of people and we have to move to the moon for living. Therefore the moon’s surface is covered by human facilities and their building.After trying different color for my design, I decided to pick the tone that I have the strongest feeling for.

It very hard to tell that there is a moon in your chosen design. I think if you used a shade of light "blue", it would be clearer and more apparent. Good ideas, just need to work more on execution.
